Shaktisinh Gohil, the national spokesperson of All India Congress Committee and AICC state in-charge of Bihar has given a clean chit to serial fodder scam accused Lalu Prasad Yadav. Speaking during a huge presser at the AICC office in Delhi on Thursday, in the presence of many old and new leaders of the Mahagathbandhan, he said
"Lalu Prasad Yadav is a fighter and fights for principles. If Lalu Prasad Yadav had joined hands with Modi, then he would have been the cleanest politician in the country. But since he did not, he has faced these issues (corruption charges)."
Gohil was speaking at the news briefing to announce the inclusion of RSLP and RJD to the Mahagathbandhan.
In January, Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted in a third case related to the Fodder scam. Only a few weeks before this conviction, he was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison following his conviction in a Fodder scam. He has also been barred from contesting elections. He had been lodged in the Birsa Munda Jail following the sentencing.

Accusing Bihar CM Nitish Kumar of corruption and debacle of the law and order in the state, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav said to the media, "Nitish has failed on all counts and his focus is on saving his chair. After a long time we have same alliance in Centre and Bihar but all we have crime and corruption There is a terror rule and a 'rakshas rule'.
During the presser at the AICC office he had said, "The way 'unofficial emergency has been declared', the way in which PM has become, is a dictatorship, the situation has come up to this. In Bihar, it is a double-engine government. One with corruption, one with crime."
Upendra Kushwaha said at the event that one of the reasons behind joining the UPA was Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Prasad Yadav. "From today, our party has become a part of the UPA. One reason for me joining the Mahagathbandhan is Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Prasad Yadav. But the biggest reason is the people of Bihar."
