Shiromani Akali Dal's Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal have arrived in Delhi for PM Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on Thursday. The leaders addressed the media ahead of attending the oath-taking ceremony.

Parkash Singh Badal said that PM Narendra Modi has done good work for the country and for Punjab.

"I am extremely happy, SAD has a very old relationship with the BJP. PM Modi was a (political) worker in Punjab. During the Emergency, he used the disguise of a Sikh. He made the country prosperous and kept it safe. He has done well for Punjab," he said. 

Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the country needed a strong Prime Minister and got one. 

"It is a matter of joy that a new government is being formed. The country needed a strong government, a strong PM and they got it," he said.

The National Democratic Alliance-led by PM Modi made a landslide victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by winning 353 seats out of 542 that went to polls. 

PM Modi and his Council of Ministers are all set to take the oath at the Forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 30 in the presence of over 8,000 guests from all across the world. The ministers who will take the oath will first be meeting Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi at 4:30 PM at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg ahead of the ceremony. 

The ceremony will be of about 90 minutes and after that, a dinner will be served to around 40 dignitaries, including Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, besides leaders of all BIMSTEC countries.
