WATCH: Union Ministers of Modi Cabinet 2.0 speak about their new portfolios, commitment to their ministry

PM Narendra Modi and his cabinet of ministers took oath on Thursday evening at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The portfolios of ministers were announced on Friday by President Ram Nath Kovind with the advice of PM Narendra Modi.

PM Narendra Modi and his cabinet of ministers took oath on Thursday evening at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The portfolios of ministers were announced on Friday by President Ram Nath Kovind with the advice of PM Narendra Modi.

Several of the newly appointed ministers spoke about their portfolios exclusively to Republic Media Network.

Below are the comments by some of the leading ministers from the PM Modi's government.

Piyush Goyal, Minister for Railways, Commerce and Industry

The Union Minister from PM Modi's previous term had the portfolio of Railways has been reassigned the same portfolio this time, along with the additional charge of Commerce and Industry.

"PM Narendra Modi has given me the opportunity to head the Railway Ministry for the second time. There was a historic transformation in several areas of railways in the last five years. Next years, there will be a huge transformation in the experience of rail travel and transport of goods... I am very happy that there will be a continuity in the development work," he said.

DV Sadananda Gowda, Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers

The former chief minister of Karnataka spoke about carrying on and expanding the work done by his predecessor Ananth Kumar.

"As far as farmers are concerned this is an important portfolio. Earlier, so many decisions were taken by the former minister Ananth Kumar as per the direction of honourable PM Modi. We will also take initiatives to benefit more people across the country," he said. 

Giriraj Singh, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries

The MP from Begusari and former Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises spoke about his wish to fulfil the dreams of PM Modi which he has for the country. 

"I will carry out my responsibilities well with full capabilities I will try to fulfil the dreams of PM Modi fully," he said. 

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Jal Shakti

The former minister of state for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare spoke about the important portfolio he had been given. "Water is an important issue and there is a concern about it across India and the world. We will ensure there is water security in the country," he said.

Kiren Rijiju,  Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs

The former Minister of State for Home Affairs of India is now the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with an additional charge as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

"I have come here for the first time. Like they say one should have sporting spirit, this is a ministry where we can work with youths. I am connected to this ministry as I have answered questions on this ministry earlier, so I would like to work here. The ways of working here are different from that of Home Ministry."
