Hitting at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her 'Choor Choor' speech, Congress Leader and Behrampore MP, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, on Wednesday has said that the Trinamool Chief has become a 'political joker' in India. He added that Bengal's priorities were not Ram or Hanuman or Kali but development.
"Chief Minister of West Bengal has made her image as a political joker on a national scale. She is demeaning the culture of Bengal with her attitude. In Bengal, whether there will be Ram or Hanuman or Kali, that is not the priority. The main concern should be to develop Bengal, to develop Bengal's culture, to see the growth of our city on a huge scale. To fulfill these dreams, the citizens of this country have voted us to power," he said, speaking in ANI.
Talking about the BJP's increasing influence in West Bengal he said that the saffron party is confident in making a number of Trinamool politicians join them as they claim that they will come to power before 2022.
"I don't know the BJP's game plan. But yes, the BJP is getting powerful in Bengal. There is a rumor that a number of politicians of TMC might join BJP, that is the reason the BJP is saying that before 2022 they will come to power," he added.
Earlier in the day, while addressing a prayer meeting on the occasion of Eid in Kolkata, Trinamool Chief Mamata Banerjee raised her "Choor Choor" remarks once again.
Addressing the gathering, she said: "Tyaag ka naam hai Hindu, Imaan ka naam hai Musalman, Pyaar ka naam hai Isaai, Sikhon ka naam hai Balidan. Ye hai hamara pyaara Hindustan. Iski raksha humlog karenge. Jo humse takraega wo choor choor ho jaega. Ye hamara slogan hai".
(Sacrifice stands for Hindu, faith stands for Muslim, love stands for Christian, Sikh stands for sacrifice. This is our beloved India. We will protect this country. Those who will fight with us will be broken into pieces. This is our slogan.)
Later, in a veiled attack at the PM Modi and BJP who won the mandate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mamata Banerjee asserted that they won the polls by "capturing" the EVM, claiming that they will go away soon. Mamata Banerjee also recited the famous Urdu Shayari to validate her statement: Muddai lakh bura chahe to kya hota hai, Woho hota hai jo manjure khuda hota hai.
"There is nothing to be scared. Muddai Lakh bura chahe to kya hota hai, wahi hota hai jo manzoor-e-khuda hota hai. Sometimes when the sun rises, its rays are very harsh but later it fades away. Don't be scared, the faster they captured EVMs, the quicker they will go away," the Trinamool chief said.
Reacting to her speech, Union Minister and BJP leader Babul Supriyo said that Banerjee's threats to BJP signify her 'expiry date' is nearing adding that Bengal will throw out her TMC into the Bay of Bengal sooner.
