Which NDA Ally Got What? Here's All You Need To Know

  • Prime Minister Modi and now Union Minister Amit Shah called leaders informing them that they will be a part of the Council of Ministers on Thursday, out of which 4 NDA allies found a spot.

After weaving history by winning a massive mandate of 353 Lok Sabha seats in 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath along with 58 Council of Ministers from BJP and their NDA allies at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

Out of the total 58 Ministers, 25 took oath as Cabinet Ministers, 9 for Independent Charge and 24 for Ministers of State. 

Prime Minister Modi and now Union Minister Amit Shah called leaders informing them about their spot in the Council of Ministers on Thursday, out of which 4 leaders of 4 parties were chosen.

Here is the party-wise allotment in the Council of Ministers among the 18 NDA members: 

  • BJP – 54
  • SAD- 1 (Harsimrat Kaur Badal)
  • LJP-1 (Ram Vilas Paswan)
  • Sena-1 (Arvind Sawant)
  • RPI (A)- 1 (Ramdas Athawale)

BJP was in a pre-poll alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab. As per the seat-sharing formula, SAD fielded 10 candidates and BJP contested 3 seats out of which the alliance only won 4 seats. 

BJP in alliance with JD(U) and LJP won 39 out of 40 seats, out of which Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP won all six seats it contested. 

In Maharashtra, the saffron BJP-Shiv Sena alliance won 42 out of the 48 seats, wherein BJP won 23 and Shiv Sena 18 seats.

On May 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to a landslide victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, by winning a total of 353 seats, with BJP winning 303 seats on its own out of the 542 Parliamentary seats that went to polls in the seven-phase elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led by PM Modi and Amit Shah won the highest ever seats in the Lok Sabha in this election, by sweeping states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi.
