Speaking out against the DMK publicly for the first, Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan said his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) will join hands with the Congress given the condition that they cut their alliance with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
"We will not join hands with either DMK or AIADMK. However, we are not against Congress", Kamal Haasan said in an interview.
It is no secret that Kamal Haasan has been a constant critique of both state and central government. In an interview he said:
“If DMK-Congress alliance breaks, I would be ready to join hands with Congress in the 2019 elections. I need to have a word with Congress to make sure our alliance would benefit the people of Tamil Nadu.”
“If Congress departs from its alliance with DMK, we are ready to join hands with them,” Kamal Haasan added.
Haasan opting an alliance with Congress does not come as a surprised as actor Kamal Haasan met Congress President Rahul Gandhi and discussed the political situation in Tamil Nadu, where he floated his new political party in September.
“We discussed politics, but not the way you think,” Kamal had said after the meeting.
Kamal Haasan launched a party is called the 'Makkal Needhi Maiyam', which translates to 'Party of the people''. The actor said that he launched MNM on the promise of bringing a corruption-free government.
