Yogi Adityanath's UP govt plans eclipsing Statue of Unity with 251-meter-tall Lord Ram statue at Ayodhya

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to install a 251-metre-tall statue of Lord Ram at Ayodhya which would be taller than the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to install a 251-metre-tall statue of Lord Ram at Ayodhya which would be taller than the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Statue of Unity in Gujarat. It would be the world's tallest statue. In the meeting of high-power committee chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday in the state capital Lucknow, the CM said that lord Ram's statue would be installed on the 100 hectares of land near River Sarayu in Ayodhya. He said that work for the construction of the statue will start soon.

The UP CM further said that a comprehensive plan should be prepared for the overall development of Ayodhya. CM Adityanath added that a digital museum based on Lord Ram theme, interpretation centre, library, parking, food plaza etc will be the part of Ayodhya's development. Uttar Pradesh government informed that an MoU will be signed with the Gujarat government for technical assistance and guidance, while a separate unit of "Rajkiya Nirman Nigam" will be set up for the purpose of installation of the statue.It also informed that for site survey, environmental assessment, feasibility studies etc.

Last yera, In the wake of the Supreme Court delaying hearings in the Ayodhya, Yogi Adityanath had planned to build a 'Statue of Unity'-like statue of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. As sources informed at that time, a massive museum and special airport dedicated to Lord Ram will also be built in Ayodhya, along with the huge Lord Ram statue.

Meanwhile, in a key development in the Ayodhya title suit on July 18, the Supreme Court directed the court-appointed mediation panel time up till July 31 to submit its final mediation report, following which it would hold a hearing in the matter on August 2.The CJI-led bench received an interim report from the 3-member mediation panel, wherein a request for time was reportedly sought, with the court acquiescing and granting said time till the end of July. The CJI said that the report would be examined and depending on the progress mentioned, the court could deliberate on August 2 the manner in which to proceed, with the possibility of day-to-day hearings also being mooted.
