After announcing a big boost for the agriculture sector, Interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal announced an increase in funding and other manner of financial aid for those in the animal husbandry and Fishery sector.
Speaking about the same, Piyush Goyal said, '' Animal Husbandry and Fishery sector, also need considerable support. I've increased the allocation of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission to 750 crores in the current year itself. I'm also very happy Madam speaker to announce, the setting up of Rashtriya Kamdenu Aayog, to upscale sustainable genetic upgradation of cow resources and to enhance production and productivity of cows.''
Further explaining the objectives of the Aayog, he continued, ''The Aayog will also look after the effective implementation of laws and welfare schemes for cows. For Gowmata's honour and respect, this government will never bow out.''
Coming to the fisheries industry, he had more good news as he announced a separate department for fisheries, '' India is the second largest fish producing nation in the world, accounting for 6.3 per cent of global production. Registering an average annual growth of more than 7 per cent. The sector provides livelihood to about 1.45 crore people at the primary level. To provide sustained and focused attention towards the development of this sector, our government has decided to create a separate department of fisheries.''
Not only that but, the Finance Minister also declared that the government will provide interest subvention for animal husbandry and fishery industry. He said, ''In the last budget, our government announced the facility of extension of Kisan credit card scheme to animal husbandry and fishery farmers. Now, I propose to provide the benefit of 2 per cent interest subvention to the farmers pursuing the activity of animal husbandry and fishery. Further, in case of timely repayment of loan, they will also get an additional 3 per cent interest subvention. They are being given the same level of respect as farmers.''
Moreover, the government has also proposed a simplified application form for easier access to credit, ''To ensure the provision of easy and concessional credit and to bring all farmers under a Kisan credit card fold, our government has decided to initiate a comprehensive drive for a simplified application form.''
Not only that, but Piyush Goyal also announced beneficial plans for farmers practising animal husbandry and fishery in case of natural disasters. He announced, '' When natural calamities strike, farmers are generally unable to repay their crop loan. Presently, the crop loans are rescheduled for such affected farmers and they get the benefit of interest subvention of 2 per cent for the first year of rescheduled loans. Our government has now decided that all farmers affected by severe natural calamities, where the assistance is provided from the National Disaster Relief Fund, will be provided the benefit of interest subvention of 2 per cent, and prompt subvention of 3 per cent for the entire period reschedulement of the loan.''
