The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government is all set to present its second Budget for the 2019 on Friday. Newly-appointed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be making her maiden Budget speech in the Lok Sabha.

After scripting history as the first woman to become the Finance Minister since former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who had also then held the finance portfolio, Sitharaman will make the budget speech in Parliament at 11 a.m. which would entail the 89th Union budget, including interim ones that Independent India has seen.

After Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget in the Lok Sabha, both lower and upper houses will be adjourned for the day.

Making a huge departure from tradition, Nirmala Sitharaman, on Friday, carried with her not a typical brown briefcase to carry the budget file but a red Indian bhai-khatta (ledger) which had the emblem of India designed on it. She posed with the red bhai-khatta in front of the Finance Ministry which contained all the documents concerning the Budget, i.e the most powerful box.
