Interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal had a lot of words of gratitude for the Indian taxpayers.
At the announcement of the 2019 Budget at the parliament, the Minister thanked the citizens as he said, ''On behalf of all the people of India and on behalf of our government, I would like to thanks all our taxpayers for their contribution towards nation building.''
He added that their contribution has not only helped in nation building but to improve the life of the economically backward sections of society as well. ''And for providing a better quality life to the poor and marginalised sections of society.''
Further citing all the good the tax money has done in matters of women safety, better sanitation and healthcare, he added, ''Your tax helps provide dignity to our sisters and mothers with toilets and cooking gas connection. Your tax pays for the electricity connections of the poor, who have lived in darkness for generations. The tax you pay will provide healthcare to 50 crore brothers and sisters and children. It is you who is ensuring respect, dignity and a secure future to our retired jawans through one rank one pension. Thank you, taxpayers.''
