3 Maoists Killed In Encounter With Security Forces in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur
At least three women Maoists were reportedly killed in an encounter with the security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district.
Narayanpur: At least three women Maoists were reportedly killed in an encounter with the security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that the country will be completely free from the Maoists by next year. The Chhattisgarh police officials on Thursday confirmed the incident saying that a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the Maoists who were killed. An encounter erupted in the forest area of Narayanpur district, when a troop of the security forces were patrolling in the area and spotted the three women Maoists at a distance from them.
According to the information, the security forces had received information about the presence of Maoists in the Narayanpur area. Based on the information, a search operation was launched in the jungle area, during which the encounter took place. The security forces seized the weapons recovered from the killed Maoists.
A senior police official said that the three Maoists were killed in Abujhmad on the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts. They started firing at the security forces as soon as they saw them. In the retaliatory firing, the three Maoists were killed.
The security forces have launched a combing operation in the jungle in search of other Maoists.
