At least four girl students were drowned in a pond in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district on Friday, while returning from their school.
Chittorgarh: At least four girl students were drowned in a pond in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district on Friday, while returning from their school. The incident took place under the Dungla police station area in Chittorgarh district, following which a rescue operation was initiated. Bodies of all the drowned girls were retrieved from the pond and were shifted to the mortuary of a hospital for post-mortem.
A senior police official confirmed the incident saying that the incident occurred when one of the girls slipped into deep water in the pond. The other three girls, who were accompanying her, jumped into the pond to save her. Since none of them knew how to swim, all four of them drowned.
According to SHO Ghevar Chand, the students were returning home from school in Bhiloda Village, when the incident took place.
The four students were identified as Komal Rawat (13), Raveena Meena (15), Narmada Meena (12) and Jashoda Meena (12), all residents of Balod.
They were sent to the hospital where doctors declared them dead, the SHO said.
Further legal action is being taken into the matter.
