Amritpal Singh to Be Flown to Delhi in Special Air Force Aircraft for Oath-Taking Today
Amritpal Singh was elected as Lok Sabha MP from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib seat.
New Delhi: Jailed Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh will be flown to the national capital for his oath-taking ceremony on Friday in a special Indian Airforce plane from Assam's Dibrugarh.
Amritpal Singh was elected as Lok Sabha MP from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib seat. Ahead of his swearing-in today, the pro-Khalistan preacher was taken from Dibrugarh Central Jail to Mohanbari Airforce Airport.
Singh, the chief of Waris Punjab De, was taken out from the Dibrugarh Central Jail at 4am today amid tight security of Assam Police and a team of Punjab Police.
Amritpal will be escorted under special security arrangements by the Punjab Police.
The radical preacher had clenched the Khadoor Sahib parliamentary constituency with a margin of about 1.97 lakh votes in the recently-concluded general elections while lodged in the Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA). His election campaign was run by his family members as he was lodged in jail.
Amritpal Granted 4-Day Parole
Amritpal has been granted parole for four days from July 5 to take oath. The District Magistrate of Amritsar granted him parole with 10 specific conditions. As per the parole order, he will be allowed to meet his family members but can't leave the “territorial jurisdiction” of New Delhi.
During his stay in Delhi, neither him nor his relatives or family members can issue any statement in any form of media, according to the conditions laid down in his parole order issued by the DM.
The parole order clearly states that the period of temporary release will include the time taken for the journey from the central jail in Dibrugarh to New Delhi and back.
The parole conditions also restrict him from engaging in any action or making any statement that is prejudicial to national security.
