Wooden Block Found on Railway Tracks in Ghazipur

A potential train derailment in Uttar Pradesh was averted early this morning when a vigilant driver of the Swatantrata Senani Express spotted a large wooden block placed on the railway tracks near Ghazipur. The swift action of the driver, who applied the emergency brakes, prevented what could have been a major disaster.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. as the train, en route to Delhi from Jaynagar in Bihar , was approaching the Alam Patti area near Ghazipur city station. The driver noticed a 2-foot-long wooden block lodged between the tracks and acted immediately, bringing the train to a stop after it had traveled about 400 meters.

Upon further inspection, the driver discovered that the hose pipe of the engine had also been cut. Authorities were alerted, and a replacement engine was dispatched from Aurihar. After two hours of repairs, the train resumed its journey.

The Ghazipur City Railway Inspector has filed an official complaint, and the local police have launched an investigation into the attempted sabotage. This is the latest in a series of derailment attempts in Uttar Pradesh, following a similar incident near Kanpur.
