Kolkata, West Bengal: The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday conducted searches at over nine locations in the city in connection with its ongoing probe into teachers recruitment scam.

At around 7 am, the ED officials first launched its crackdown on the private office of a Chartered Accountant (CA) Rajesh Doshi located near the Netaji Subhas Road. The searches were conducted at several locations including Dalhousie, Barabazar, and Canning Street, among others.

The alleged scam came to fore in 2022 after the ED officials arrested West Bengal Industries and Commerce Minister and senior Trinamool Congress leader, Partha Chatterjee, in connection with irregularities in recruitment to the West Bengal School Service Commission.

Chattterjee served as the Minister of State Education Department when the alleged irregularities occurred, according to ED.

After almost 24 hours of questioning, Chatterjee was arrested from his resident in south Kolkata. He was then taken to a government health facility in Joka for medical tests and later produced before a city court, which offered ED custody of the Minister for an extended period.
