Kolkata: An 11-year-old girl in West Bengal's Kripakhali was abducted, raped and murdered while she was returning home from her tuition.

The incident came to light after the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) leader Amit Malviya shared a tweet about the incident.

According to Malviya's tweet, the villagers found the minor girl's body on the riverbank. He further added that angry villagers attacked the Kultali police station after the officials refused to taker the company because the "rapist(s) is apparently a Muslim and WB Police is reluctant to act, lest they upset Home Minister Mamata Banerjee ."

Mamata Govt Under Fire, BJP Slams CM

The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government saying she has no legal or model right to stay in her position.

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said, "The incident that happened with an innocent in Jayanagar shows that Mamata Banerjee has no control over the administration. Mamata Banerjee asked them (Police) not to register an FIR because the data that rapes were increasing in West Bengal are going to NCRB. Therefore, despite the family's and the villagers' complaints, the police did not register a case. The way the missing girl was raped is dangerous and I think that if such incidents are happening again and again in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has no legal or model right to stay in her position."

Taking a swipe at the state's Chief Minister, Malviya said, "During Durga Puja, as West Bengal celebrates Devi Shakti, women and girls are unsafe. Unless Asuri Shaktis, at the helm of the State's affair, are not defeated, crimes against women will continue, unabated."

" Mamata Banerjee has to GO for women to be safe in Bengal," he added.

Furthermore, BJP 's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, "In West Bengal, under Mamata Banerjee , there is no 'mamata' for Maa, Maati, Manush or Mahila. Today, daughters are unsafe and it is only the rapists who are getting all the support of the TMC government. From the RG Kar case to dozens and dozens of cases. Now we have seen that in the Kripakhali area, an 11-year-old Hindu girl has been brutally raped and murdered. When her body was discovered by the villagers and they went to the police station, they did not take the complaint for certain vested interests and vote bank-related purposes...It is time for Mamata Banerjee to go because till she is there, TMC will only give patronage to the rapists and never give justice to our daughters."

This incident comes as Bengal is facing the heat after junior doctors across the state staged a protest demanding justice for RG Kar incident victim Abhaya and better conditions for medical professionals.

On Friday, despite calling off their 'total cease work', agitating junior doctors in the state continued their sit-in on in central Kolkata, alleging that the police baton-charged a few of them during a rally to press for justice for the deceased woman medic of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The junior doctors called off their 'total cease work' at state-run medical colleges and hospitals around 8:30 pm on Friday but issued an ultimatum to launch a hunger strike till death if their demands were not met by the West Bengal government within 24 hours.
