Bihar: Man Beaten to Death By Angry Mob Over Suspicion Of Tractor Theft
A man was allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of stealing a tractor in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, police said on Sunday.

Muzaffarpur: A man was allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of stealing a tractor in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar , police said on Sunday.
The man, identified as Shambhu Sahni, was attacked by a group of people who suspected him of stealing their tractor. The police rescued him and rushed him to a hospital, but doctors declared him dead.
In connection with the incident, two people, including the tractor owner, have been arrested by the police.
Speaking to reporters, Aurai police station SHO Abhijit Alkesh said, "The incident took place in Yogiyan village on Saturday night when a person was allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of stealing a tractor." "According to villagers, Shambhu Sahni was beaten to death by the owner of the tractor along with others. Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot on Sunday morning and took him to the hospital where he was declared dead," he added.
Two people, identified as tractor owner Ganga Sahni, and Pukar Sahni, have been arrested in connection with the case, he said, adding the matter is being further examined.
Villagers alleged that Shambhu Sahni, along with three others, had come to steal a tractor.
A local police officer, on condition of anonymity, said, "Shambhu was caught by villagers while three of his associates managed to escape. Ganga Sahni, along with a group of villagers, tied Shambhu to a vehicle and beat him the whole night out in the open until the police arrived and rescued him. He was mercilessly beaten even as he begged for mercy." There are also unconfirmed reports that the man was tied with a rope to a vehicle and dragged around.
