Bihar Woman Killed at Bengaluru PG Was Colleague of Accused's Girlfriend

Bengaluru: In significant development in Bihar woman murder case in Bengaluru, it has come to light that the victim was a collegaue of accused's girlfriend. For the unversed, a woman, identified as Kirti Kumari, was found dead with her throat slit in a paying guest (PG) accommodation at Koramangala on Wednesday. The chilling video of the murder has also surfaced on social mdia, sending shock waves across the city.  

The accused, identified as Abhishek, was arrested by police on Saturday from his native place in Bhopal. As per media reports, the police were likely to issue a press statement on Saturday on the motive of the murder.

The horrific CCTV footage of the attack showed the woman, identified as Kriti Kumari, being attacked inside the accommodation. Kriti died as her neck was slit open.

In the spine-chilling video,  the killer can be seen walking towards the victim's room, knocking on the door, and then forcibly dragging her out. He is seen attacking her with a knife, despite her desperate attempts to fend him off.

Overpowered, she is violently attacked before the assailant flees. The commotion and her screams prompt other residents to rush to the corridor, where they find the victim in a bloodied state.

Hailing from Bihar, Kumari was employed at a private company in Bengaluru. As per police sources, the assailant, armed with a knife, entered the premises around 11.10 pm. The murder took place near a room on the third floor.

A case in connection with the murder was registered and subsequently, the police had launched a manhunt for accused based on the CCTV video.

Speaking to Republic Kannada, City Police Commissioner Dayananda had earlier stated that three teams were formed to nab the accused in the murder case.

The latest incident follows a recent stabbing at Sindhi College in Kempapura, where a security guard was killed by Bhargav, a final-year BA student. Bhargav, reportedly intoxicated, was initially denied entry to the college by the guard. Furious, Bhargav left but soon returned with a knife, attacking and fatally stabbing the guard.

Earlier this year, the murder of Karnataka college student Neha Hiremath by her former classmate Fayaz Khondunaik ignited a political debate, with the BJP labelling it as "love jihad," a claim rejected by the Congress.
