8 Killed, Several Injured In Collision Between Bus And Lorry In Andhra's Chittoor

At least 8 people were killed and several others were injured after a bus collided with a lorry in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district.

Chittoor: At least eight people were killed and several others were injured after a state-run bus collided with a lorry in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district on the highway connecting Bengaluru. According to the information, the accident took place on Friday when a government bus crashed into a lorry on the Chittoor-Bengaluru Highway near Mogili Ghat. Following which the injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A police source stated that the incident took place on the Chittoor-Bangalore Highway near Mogili Ghat in the Chittoor district, when the Andhra Pradesh State Government bus, on its way from Tirupati to Bengaluru, collided with the lorry.

On information, the local Chittoor police and the district administration rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. All the victims were shifted to the hospital for treatment. A case has been registered under relevant sections and a legal action has been initiated.

A senior official stated that as per the information so far, 8 killed in the accident, while several others were injured in a collision between bus and lorry. 

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has offered his condolences to the family of the deceased and has promised to provide all possible support to them. He also took stock of the rescue operation being taken and instructed the officials to take all the adequate steps to ensure proper treatment to the injured persons.

Chittoor Collector Sumit Kumar said that the state government has announced a relief of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased.
