Baba Siddique, a senior leader of the Ajit Pawar -led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was shot dead in Mumbai's Bandra on Saturday evening. Siddique was targeted by unidentified assailants and sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Lilavati Hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Mumbai police have detained two suspects linked to the incident—one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana . A third suspect has been identified but remains at large, prompting a manhunt to apprehend them. Shinde emphasized the urgency of the investigation, stating, “We have given strict orders to the Mumbai police, and the crime branch will investigate this matter. We will not spare the criminals.”

The shooting occurred outside the office of his MLA son, Zeeshan Siddiqui, near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar. In the aftermath of the attack, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed that the weapon used in the assassination has been recovered.

In an exclusive conversation with Republic Media Network, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said, “Two suspects have been detained...One suspect is on the run, our police will nab him...Those involved in murder of NCP  leader Baba Siddique will not be spared.”

Authorities are working diligently to ensure that all individuals involved in this tragic event are brought to justice.
