BJP Releases Revised List of 15 Candidates for J&K Assembly Polls 2024
The BJP on Monday, August 26, released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections for Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a revised list of its candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls 2024, on Monday, August 26.
The revised list features the names of 15 candidates for the first phase of the polls.
The party has fielded Arshid Bhat from Rajpora. Meanwhile, Javed Ahmad Qadri will contest from Shopian, Mohd. Rafiq Wani to contest from Anantnag West.
Furthermore, Adv. Syed Wazahat will contest from Anantnag, Sushri Shagun Parihar is to contest from Kishtwar, and Gajay Singh Rana will contest from Doda.
However, this time, the party has dropped several big leaders including former deputy CM and cabinet minister Nirmal Singh, Bali Bhagat and Sat Sharma.
This comes an hour after the saffron party withdrew its list featuring 44 candidates. As per the previous list, the saffron party fielded 10 and 19 candidates for the second and third phases respectively.
The names were announced after a meeting of the BJP Central Election Committee was held over the weekend. This meeting was chaired by Union Minister and BJP leader JP Nadda, with the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other committee members.
The CEC approved the candidates' names for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections 2024.
