Coldplay Concert Row: BookMyShow Files Case Against Unknown Person for Black Marketing of Tickets
Amid the ongoing Coldplay Concert Row, BookMyShow has filed a case with Mumbai Police, against an unknown person for the black marketing of tickets.
Mumbai: The famous band Coldplay is coming to India and will be performing in Mumbai in January, 2025; the tickets went on sale last month and created a huge stir due to their quick sale and black marketing. Amid the ongoing investigation, BookMyShow has filed a case against black marketing of tickets.
BookMyShow Files Case Against Black Marketing of Tickets
BookMyShow has filed a case against an unknown person at Vile Parle Police Station in Mumbai, for black marketing of tickets for the Coldplay concert to be held in January 2025 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Vile Parle Police has registered a case against an unknown accused under section 66 (C) of the IT Act and relevant sections of the BNS Act and further investigation is underway.
Here's What BookMyShow's Complaint Said
In its complaint, BookMyShow said that when the ticket sale started on September 22, they had clearly stated that tickets should not be purchased from any third party. During this, they received emails from two individuals, requesting to book maximum tickets.
It was also mentioned in the email that they had promised to secure tickets for people and also took money from them. Apart from this, BookMyShow also received several WhatsApp messages from other people making similar requests, which were ignored.
In another news, the Mumbai police have recorded the statement of the chief operating officer of online ticket aggregator BookMyShow in connection with a complaint alleging black marketing of tickets for shows of British rock band Coldplay, an official said on Tuesday. Anil Makhija, COO of the company, appeared before officials of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Monday to record his statement, the official said. The EOW had on Saturday summoned BookMyShow's chief executive officer (CEO) Ashish Hemrajani in connection with a complaint by an advocate accusing the ticketing platform. However, he failed to appear before the police, he said.
