Jammu: Jammu-Kashmir BJP 's working President Sat Sharma has suspended state Vice President Pawan Khajuria from the party, after he filed nomination for contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming polls in the state, on Wednesday. 

Khajuria, on September 12, filed his nomination papers as an Independent candidate from Udhampur East constituency, which made the party upset and disciplinary committee was formed to recommend further action on the matter. 

Moreover, along with Khajuria, Balwan Singh and Narinder Singh Bhau were also suspended from the party with immediate affect. 

“Based on the recommendations made by the Disciplinary Committee J&K BJP Working President Sh. Sat Sharma has suspended Pawan Khajuria,  Balwan Singh and Narinder Singh Bhau from the party with immediate effect.”, posted J-K BJP on X

Khajuria, while addressing a big rally of his supporters at Udhampur before filing his nomination papers, said, “Honouring your words, I have moved forward. None can blame me of any wrongdoing. I have an unblemished public life.”

“I have the blessings of the people. Today, all of you have asked me to file my nomination and I bow before you and humbly accept your decision,” he added further. 

Khajuria was among the front-runners for the party's candidate from Udhampur east constituency but the party decided in favour of former Ramnagar MLA RS Pathania.
