Agitating Doctors Call Off Strike Following Meeting With West Bengal CM

Russia has said that it is investigating the claimed shoot-down of a cargo jet by Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in Darfur. So right now we are seeing patients with respiratory, eye and skin complaints majorly in our OPDs. We have seen an increased number of patients in our chest OPD. Now with the vision of our medical superintendent Dr Ajay Shukla, we have started this pollution-related illness clinic every Monday from 2-4 pm. Today, we saw patients coming with cough, sneezing, cold, itching in the throat, watering eyes and some of the patients with burning in the skin. These are the main symptoms which patients are coming with. We can attribute these symptoms to the increasing pollution in Delhi NCR. And we have also included psychiatry as a branch in this pollution clinic. Because of this pollution, sometimes the patient may feel depressed and hopeless. So to counsel them, we have secretary doctors as well in this pollution clinic.”

The directives on the points agreed upon by the delegation of 17 junior doctors and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be issued on October 22. 

According to information, rigorous discussions were held in the meeting between Mamata Banerjee and the delegation of 17 junior doctors to form a task force at every level. The doctors emphasized the formation of a task force at the college level to address ragging issues.

During the meeting, the doctors demanded CM Mamata Banerjee's opinion on vandalism on August 15. A mob vandalised the government hospital in Kolkata during a midnight protest by doctors against the rape and murder of a colleague. The emergency ward in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was completely destroyed. 

As the meeting between protesting doctors and CM Mamata Banerjee continues, the doctors have called for a safe space for students to “express their pain.”
