New Delhi: Yesterday's union budget, which was presented by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has provided a big boost to Bihar.
The Centre allocated Rs 26,000 crore for developing roads.
Apart from this, the Purvodaya scheme has been announced for enhancing the all-round development of the eastern region including states like Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Gaya in Bihar will be made an industrial node on the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor.
An amount of Rs 21,400 crore has been allocated for a power project, which will be constructed in Bihar's Bhagalpur.
Rishang Raj Sharma, spokesperson of Bihar BJP unit, says, "To make the country strong, it is essential to strengthen Bihar economically. In yesterday's budget the central government has given a lot to Bihar be that in terms of infrastructure, industrial domain and other essential spheres. Even JDU, which has been demanding the SCS for Bihar for a long also feels that they have much more than the special status would have given. Bihar's development suffered badly from 1990 to 2005 when RJD was the ruling party. To offset that, the rapid development of the state needs the special category status."
"The people of Bihar are extremely happy with what the state has got in the budget. This budgetary allocation will ensure that Bihar treads the path of progress. The amount that has been allocated for the state would almost ensure the status equal to the of the special category status," adds Sharma.
