2 Children Among 4 Killed As House Collapses After Explosion at Firozabad Firecracker Factory

Firozabad: At least four people were killed and six others sustained injuries in a house collapse incident following a massive explosion in Firozabad's Naushera on Tuesday. Two children were among the four deceased.

The blast took place at a firecracker factory in Naushera area, causing the roof of a nearby house to collapse. Several people were also feared trapped under the rubble, news agency ANI, citing police, reported.

"In Shikohabad PS area, firecrackers were stored at a house and a blast occurred there. Due to the impact of the blast, the roof of a nearby house collapsed. Police took out 10 people from the debris...6 people are undergoing treatment at a hospital and 4 people have died...further rescue operation is still underway," ANI quoted Deepak Kumar, IG Agra Range, as saying.

Meanwhile, Firozabad District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan said that the rescue operations was underway.

Rescue team was present at the spot to engage in relief and rescue work. Both the district hospital and sub-district hospital were put on high alert. Additionally, a team of doctors, ambulance, fire team, disaster team, all were also present at the spot.

The exact cause of the blast is not known yet. An investigation into the matter is underway.
