Clash in Odisha's Khurda District Results in One Fatality; Prohibitory Orders Imposed
A man was killed in a clash in Khurda, Odisha. Prohibitory orders were imposed, with schools and businesses closed.
Tensions erupted in Mukunda Prasad village, located on the outskirts of Khurda town, following a violent clash between two groups on Sunday. The conflict resulted in the death of a man who was attacked with sharp weapons. He was later declared dead upon arrival at the Khurda district headquarters hospital.
In the aftermath of the violence, which also saw several vehicles vandalized, prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS have been imposed. This measure aims to prevent further escalation and maintain peace in the area.
Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania and Director of Intelligence SK Priyadarshi, along with senior police officers, visited the scene to assess the situation. "Following the murder, locals blocked the road but it was withdrawn after police assured action against the perpetrators," said Superintendent of Police (SP) Awinash Kumar. He added that while the situation is currently normal, intense patrolling is underway to prevent any potential flare-ups. Strong action will be taken against the accused, he urged, appealing to the community to maintain peace.
District Collector Chanchal Rana emphasized that the police are committed to a thorough investigation of the incident. "Police will investigate the case from all angles and action will be taken accordingly," he stated.
