New Delhi: Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and a seasoned political leader, is reported to be in critical condition following a respiratory infection. Yechury was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on Thursday and has since been placed on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU) due to a significant deterioration in his health.
Sources indicate that Yechury’s condition worsened rapidly after his initial admission three days ago, which was already described as serious. Although AIIMS has not issued an official medical bulletin, a team of seven doctors is currently overseeing his treatment.
The 72-year-old leader had previously been admitted to AIIMS on August 19 for a pneumonia-like chest infection.
