Crime Branch Arrests Gym Trainer With Illegal Firearms in Delhi's Jahangir Puri

Two semi-automatic pistols and 25 live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the gym trainer Vishal.

New Delhi: A gym trainer was arrested with a huge cache of illegal firearms in the Jahangir Puri area by the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Vishal, a resident of Jahangir Puri. 

According to police, two semi-automatic pistols and 25 live cartridges were recovered from his possession.  

Carried weapons to establish supremacy

The Crime Branch said that it received a tip about an accused carrying weapons to establish supremacy in his area and to deal with those who were involved in organized crime in his area. The accused was trapped after a team was formed. He was also put under sustained interrogation, police said. 

Police have also registered a case against the accused under the sections 25/54/59 Arms Act at PS Crime Branch. 

Earlier, a 28-year-old gym owner was stabbed to death by a group of men in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura area. 

The deceased identified as Sumit Chaudhary alias Prem, also ran a tour and travel business and was attacked outside his house in Gamri Extension late on Wednesday night.

Police said that Chaudhary was sitting outside his house when he got into a spat with three-four men. The men attacked him with a knife and stabbed him multiple times in the face, neck, chest and abdomen. There were more than 21 stab wounds on his face.

Chaudhary was taken to JPC Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
