Bengaluru: A 21-year-old girl on Monday was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her house in Bengaluru’s Sudhamanagar on the first day of the New Year. On information, the local police reached the house and shifted the body to a mortuary for post-mortem.
Police sources said that prima-facie the incident appears to be a case of suicide. A case has been registered at the Wilson Garden police station and further legal action is being taken.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Varshini, who was living with her parents in Sudhamanagar in Bengaluru. She was pursuing her BBA.
The family members revealed before the police that Varshini had asked her parents last night to allow her to go out with her friends for a New Year party, but the parents denied her permission.
Talking to Republic, a relative of Varshini said, "Varshini was a bright kid. She had got an opportunity to take part in a photography competition as a model. On New Year’s eve as well, she wanted to step out of the house for photography, but her parents denied permission. She has now taken this extreme step. However, she had no differences with her parents and the parents always took utmost care of her."
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shekhar, while speaking to Republic, said, "Varshini, was very much interested in photography and had done photo shoots. Yesterday as well, she was preparing to do a photoshoot in a mall, but her father didn't like it and stopped her from going out.”
Further legal action into the matter is being taken.
