Special Cell nabs kingpin of ATM break gang from Haryana

Police sources said that the accused Mohammad Jahin (31) was apprehended, while he was going to Guwahati to execute an another ATM break incident.

The Special Cell team of Delhi Police has busted a nexus of Mewat gang, involved in ATM break incidents in Delhi-NCR, by arresting the kingpin of the gang. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Jahin (31), who was wanted in 15 criminal cases.  

Police sources said that the accused was apprehended, while he was going to Guwahati to execute an another ATM break incident. The members of the gang used to target unguarded ATM booths in isolated areas.

Accused was involved in ATM break incident of Welcome area in Delhi

The accused disclosed that they sprinkle black paint on the CCTV cameras installed inside the ATM booths and cut the ATM machine with the help of gas cutters to take away the cash trays. It was also revealed that the gang members use robbed or stolen vehicles to commit the crime.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Alok Kumar said that a specific information was received about the arrival of a key member of the gang named Md Jahid in the Palam area. Consequently, a trap was laid around a red light near Palam Airport and the accused was nabbed.

It was revealed after the arrest that the accused and his associates recently stole Rs 7.5 lakh from an ATM machine in the Welcome area of Delhi.

The DCP added that the accused is a habitual offender and has previously been involved in about 15 criminal cases, including 14 ATM break incidents in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Assam.

Based on the information given by the accused, the police are making efforts to nab the other gang members.
