Delhi Rain LIVE: Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi and its adjoining areas, including Noida, on Wednesday evening causing waterlogging in several areas. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert and released an advisory for Delhi residents urging them to avoid travel until necessary. "Avoid going to areas that face water logging problems often," it said. The National Flash Flood Guidance Bulletin also included Delhi in its list of "areas of concern", it said. The rain also disrupted air traffic as many flights were affected due to adverse weather conditions. On Wednesday, at least 10 flights were diverted -- eight to Jaipur and two to Lucknow -- due to inclement weather conditions.

Another death has been reported from the national capital where a 12-year-old boy died due to electrocution. As per officials, the minor received an electric shock at around 7:00 pm while he was returning from tuition.
As the torrential rains cause waterlogging, the Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for the residents; to check routes to avoid.
"Traffic is affected on Rohtak Road in the carriageway from Nangloi towards Tikri Border and vice -versa due to heavy water logging and potholes on road in Mundka. Kindly avoid Mundka and take alternate route accordingly."
For people planning to travel via the Golf Course Road from Sector 16B is, “Traffic is affected on Golf Course Road in the carriageway from Sector 16 B, Dwarka Crossing towards Dhoolsiras due to uprooting of a tree on the main road in front of Pink Apartments. Commuters are advised to avoid the stretch and plan their journey accordingly."
Diversions are implemented at the New Patparganj Road and Nirman Vihar.
The alternative routes are -
Traffic coming from the Mother Dairy side will be diverted on New Patparganj Road towards Laxmi Nagar.
Traffic coming from Nirman Vihar side will be diverted towards Police Station Preet Vihar Road.
IndiGo in a post on X shared on Thursday stated that the flights are likely to remain affected and are expected to be delayed.
“We want to keep you informed that our departures and arrivals are still experiencing delays, which may continue through the morning. We understand that waiting through the night can be bothersome and inconvenient, and we sincerely regret the discomfort this may cause.”
“Please be assured that our dedicated airport teams are on hand to assist you and are working diligently to make your wait as comfortable as possible. Thank you for your patience and continued support,” the post read on X.
Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena on Wednesday cautioned all officers to remain alert in light of the heavy downpour in the national capital.
A 22-year-old woman and her child drowned in a waterlogged drain in Ghazipur. The deceased have been identified as Tanuja and her three-year-old son Priyansh who were out to buy household items. The incident occurred when the two slipped into a drain due to waterlogging and drowned.
Given heavy downpours in Delhi, Delhi Education Minister Atishi in a post on X announced that all private and government schools will remain shut.
"In light of very heavy rainfall today evening and forecast of heavy rainfall tomorrow, all schools - government and private - will remain closed tomorrow, 1st August," the post read.
