New Delhi: A 28-year-old man brutally crushed the head of a 7-year-old boy in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area with bricks on Diwali night causing him fatal injuries on the spot after the victim resisted the sexual assault by the accused at an under-construction building located in the same area. After the incident, the accused fled the spot leaving the boy in a pool of blood in an unconscious state. The brutal killing took place late Thursday night, which has sent a shockwave across the area.

The Shaheen Bagh police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and initiated a probe. After analysing over 100 CCTV footage, the police detained a suspect, identified as Fida Hussain, who confessed to the crime during the interrogation, and revealed that the boy was killed by him for resisting a sexual assault.

Meanwhile, a major outrage was seen in the area among the people over the incident, who staged a protest demanding justice for the child and his family. The police have arrested the accused and added relevant sections of the POCSO Act to the case.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Southeast Delhi) Ravi Kumar Singh said, “On October 31, at around 10.58 pm, a PCR call regarding the lying of the body of a 7-8 years boy in an under-construction site situated at E block, Shaheen Bagh was received at PS Shaheen Bagh.”

“Police staff reached the spot. Upon reaching the spot it was found that the body of a 7-8-year-old boy was lying on the first floor of the under-construction building and blood was oozing from the head,” DCP Singh said.

The DCP further stated that multiple teams were formed to solve the blind murder case. The team analysed about 80-100 CCTV cameras and it was revealed that one suspected person along with a boy entered the under-construction site.

Efforts were made to identify the boy and during extensive leg work, a boy was found missing in the Abu Fazal Enclave area. The parents of the deceased boy recognised his body.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footage was analyzed and the accused person was identified as Fida Hussain, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave in Jamia Nagar. The accused person was interrogated at length during which he disclosed sexual assault as the reason behind the murder.
