Dengue Outbreak in Bihar: 55 New Cases in 24 Hours, Death Toll Rises to 5
Patna has recorded a huge number of cases with 27 new cases being identified in the city on Monday.
Patna: Dengue cases are surging rapidly in Bihar , with 55 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, health officials said on Monday.
Patna, the state's capital, remains a hotspot with 27 of the new cases identified from the city.
The most affected zone is Azimabad which has reported 13 cases, while Kankarbagh and Bankipur zones registered five cases each.
On Saturday, dengue claimed two more lives in Patna, bringing the total number of fatalities in the state to five. Other districts are also experiencing a rise in dengue cases, with Samastipur reporting five new cases and Saran district has seen four dengue patients in the past 24 hours.
Health authorities are increasingly concerned as the situation worsens. Efforts to control the spread of the virus and provide medical assistance are being intensified. Currently, over 45 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various government and private hospitals across Patna.
Since the beginning of the year, Bihar has recorded 1,123 cases of dengue, with Patna accounting for 523 of those. Districts like Muzaffarpur, Siwan, Samastipur, and West Champaran are also seeing significant numbers of infections. The situation is further complicated by a concurrent rise in viral flu cases in the state.
What Measures to take to Prevent Dengue
Dr. Subhash Chandra Prasad, the District Infectious Disease Control Officer, has issued a public advisory urging people to take preventive measures, such as using mosquito repellents, wearing full-sleeved clothing, and avoiding water accumulation in and around homes.
