Eatery Owner Held After Video Of Employee Spitting On Bread Goes Viral

A viral video showing a teenager spitting on bread at an eatery in Saharanpur has sparked controversy and legal action. The incident, which occurred at Dastarkhwan eatery in Chhutmalpur town, led to the arrest of the facility's owner, Osman, and the minor employee involved.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain explained, "The incident took place at the eatery named Dastarkhwan, located near the Grass Market in Chhutmalpur town under the Fatehpur police station jurisdiction. A minor employee at the hotel was seen spitting on the bread while preparing it, and this video was circulated on social media."

The complainant, Nitish Badthwal, claimed that the employee’s actions were offensive and hurtful to his community's religious sentiments. "The complaint requested action against the hotel, including its closure," Jain added.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 196, which deals with promoting enmity between groups based on religion or race. Both the hotel owner and the minor employee have been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
