New Delhi: Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO and the X Chief, on Friday, congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the most followed world leader on microblogging site X. Musk took to X to extend his wish to PM Modi saying, “Congratulations PM Narendra Modi”. This came up after the prime minister recently reached the 100 million followers mark on the social media platform, thus becoming the most followed leader in the world.
In his post on X, Elon Musk wrote, “Congratulations PM Narendra Modi on being the most followed world leader."
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Modi crossed 100 million followers on X. After reaching the milestone, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the followers, in a post on X, saying, “A hundred million on X! Happy to be on this vibrant medium and cherish the discussion, debate, insights, people’s blessings, constructive criticism and more."
“Looking forward to an equally engaging time in the future as well,” the PM further added.
Among other global leaders also have a considerably smaller followers count on X. United States president Joe Biden has 38.1 million followers, Pope Francis has 18.5 million followers, the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed has 11.2 million followers, PM of Italy Giorgia Meloni has 2.4 million followers, and President of France Emmanuel Macron has 9.8 million followers, among other leaders.
PM Modi, however, is second in terms of social media following on X among all the political figures. Former US President Barack Obama has the highest number of followers at 131.7 million. He is also an influential presence on YouTube and Instagram with nearly 25 million subscribers and more than 91 million followers respectively.
