Encounter Breaks Out With JeM Terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir's Kathua, 1 Policeman Martyred
A massive encounter broke out between the security forces and the terrorists in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) ahead of the Assembly polls.
Kathua: A massive encounter broke out between the security forces and the terrorists in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) on Saturday ahead of the Assembly polls in the district, resulting in the death of a policeman. According to police sources, the encounter broke out in the Billawar area of Kathua after the security forces established contact with the terrorists reportedly linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in the Dhana Parole Area of Billawar. The encounter with the terrorists is underway at present in the area.
As per the reports, the firing is underway between the terrorists and the security forces in the Dhana Parole Area of Billawar. It is being claimed that around 3 to 4 terrorists of the JeM are trapped by the security forces. Notably, people in Kathua will vote on October 1 in the third phase of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the information, security forces based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by the security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir police at Village Kog (Mandli) in Kathua. The entire area has been cordoned off in the wake of massive gunbattle in the area.
If sources are to be believed, two terrorists were hit in a rocket launcher assault by special forces of the Indian Army in Kathua.
