New Delhi: As many as six people were injured after a massive fire broke out at two restaurants of South Delhi's INA Market, quickly spreading to nearby eateries. Six to eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot to extinguish the flames. The injured have been identified as Sunil (46), Ashki Nepali (26), Arun (18), Shiva (26), Shiv Kumar (24) and Girish (42). The injured have been admitted to AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospitals.

According to Delhi Fire Services officials, the fire started at a fast food restaurant and spread to a neighbouring eatery. Upon receiving the alert, seven fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire broke out at Kerala Restaurant, located in shop number 211 near INA Metro Station's gate 2, at 3:18 am. "Fire was in Kerala restaurant (Shop No.211) and two adjacent shops of Chinese fast food (No.213 and 214) resulting in six persons sustained burn injuries and two of them rushed to AIIMS and the rest four were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital by PCR," according to a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official.

"We were alerted to the fire at 3:20 a.m. Seven to eight fire brigades were dispatched to the scene. Two restaurants were affected, and four to six people are reported injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It appears that an excessive number of commercial cylinders were stored in one of the restaurants, which could have contributed to a major tragedy," said Manoj Mehlawat of Delhi Fire Services.

This is a developing story, more details are still awaited.
