Gujarat CM Reviews Crisis Response Operations As Rain Wreaks Havoc In State
Gujarat CM has issued directives to district collectors and corporation commissioners as state witness heavy downpour resulting in severe waterlogging.
Gandhinagar: As several parts of the state continue to witness severe waterlogging and flooding, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday oversaw operations at the State Emergency Operation Centre, issuing directives to district collectors and corporation commissioners.
"Gujarat CM arrived at the State Emergency Operation Centre and he gave instructions to the district collectors, corporation commissioners...NDRF teams have been deployed at different locations. Army teams have also been deployed in five districts...With the assistance of the Coast Guards and Air Force, more than 300 rescue operations have been conducted. The public should follow the do's and don'ts of the district administration," State Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey said at a press conference.
Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting regarding the rescue and evacuation efforts at the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar."He instructed the Collectors that special vigilance should be taken so that no one should cross or enter the river channels or roads when the rainwater is flowing in large quantities and dangerously and if necessary with the help of the police to stop the people with strictness,' an official statement said.
Gujarat CM also instructed to give priority to the matter of rescuing people trapped in water. He also got the details of evacuation operations.
"So far 17,827 people have been evacuated and 1,653 people have been rescued in the state. 13 teams of NDRF and 22 teams of SDRF have been deployed in the affected districts, which are helping in rescue and relief operations," a release said.
Several parts of Gujarat are experiencing severe waterlogging. Valsad and Navsari are two of the worst-hit districts of Gujarat.
