Gandhinagar: Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Friday flagged off 20 hi-tech Volvo buses which consist of fire-prevention technology and other high-end specifications.
Addressing the media, Harsh Sanghavi said, “20 hi-tech Volvo buses have been inaugurated. These are the first such buses in India that have the fire-prevention technology used in submarines and aeroplanes.All windows of these buses are emergency windows. There are modular stairs. Ultra hi-tech hydraulics are used for those who cannot use the stairs due to knee pain."

Meanwhile, Gujarat is on the brink of a major advancement in its public transportation system with the upcoming launch of the eagerly anticipated Metro Rail Extension, according to an official statement. This initiative, spearheaded by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) in partnership with the Government of Gujarat and the Government of India, will broaden the metro network by connecting key locations between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Key stops will include GNLU, PDEU, Gift City, Raysan, Randesan, Dholakuva, Infocity, and Sector-1. The extension aims to enhance connectivity between the two cities, revolutionizing urban mobility with faster, safer, and more affordable travel options for residents. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the second phase of the Metro on September 16, 2024, marking the official start of operations
