Gwalior: The man, accused of looting a bullion trader after opening fire at him, was shot in leg during an encounter with police, said police on Tuesday. It is learnt that the accused, identified as Arun Chauhan, was injured in the retaliatory firing.

A resident of Morena, Chauhan is one of the three main accused in the case. More than a dozen criminal case were registered against them in different police stations of Gwalior and Morena. Chauhan was admitted to the trauma center of Jayarogya Hospital for treatment.

Chauhan's two accomplices, Pramod Tomar and Radha Swami Jatav were also nabbed.

Late on Tuesday night, the trio shot and looted bullion trader, identified as Chahat Soni. Further, a bike, pistol and bag used in the crime were recovered from the possession of the accused.

Bullion trader robbed of Valuables Worth 16 lakh

The bullion trader was robbed of valuables worth Rs 16 lakh at of Kushwaha market which falls under the jurisdiction of Maharajpura police station. The entire incident was captured on camera. He was robbed when he was on his way back home after closing the shop. Suddenly, the bike-borne accused came to Chahat and one of them fired shots at him, leaving him injured in his leg. The third miscreant snatched a bag from him which had Rs 1 lakh cash amount and 200gm of gold. The trio fled the scene with the bag. The victim was rushed to hospitals by locals.

Soon after receiving the information about the shooting incident, police official rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Additionally, police also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for providing information about the whereabouts of the three absconding miscreants.
