Gwalior: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old girl from Gwalior allegedly drugged her family by mixing sleeping pills with 'aloo parathas' before fleeing with her boyfriend, taking ancestral jewellery and lakhs in cash.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday in Narayan Vihar, just six days after the minor girl's engagement to another young man.

According to reports, the girl carefully planned the escape on Saturday night. She prepared dinner for her mother and sister, mixing sleeping pills into the potato filling of the parathas.

Without any suspicion, the family ate the food and soon fell into a deep sleep.

It wasn’t until Sunday morning around 9:30 a.m. that the family woke up feeling dizzy and disoriented. As they regained consciousness they discovered their home in disarray and were shocked to find that the girl, along with jewellery and cash of one lakh rupees, had dissappeared.

The girl’s mother revealed that her daughter had served the meal with affection, but avoided from eating it herself. After a thorough search followed, and it was soon discovered that the girl's boyfriend, Mohan Singh, who lived nearby, was also missing.

Authorities believe the girl’s engagement to another young man from Murar was arranged in the hopes of ending her relationship with Singh, but the couple apparently had other plans.

The Gola Ka Mandir Police Station has launched an investigation and formed two teams to track the couple. They are currently examining CCTV footage from bus stands and railway stations in nearby areas to trace their movements.
