Faridabad: A gym operator was allegedly beaten to death by a group of youths in Faridabad late Sunday night, police reported. The victim's two nephews, who tried to intervene, were also seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
The deceased was identified as 44-year-old Raju Sharma, also known as Rajesh Sharma, a resident of Ajraunda village in Sector 15A. The attack is believed to have been triggered by a monetary dispute with a local man named Kallu Pandit.
According to a complaint filed by Sharma's nephew Shivam, the altercation began in the evening when Kallu Pandit argued with his uncle outside the village. Later that night, Pandit, along with several youths armed with rods, iron pipes, and sticks, attacked Sharma.
"When my brothers and I reached the spot, we saw the group beating our uncle. When we tried to help, they attacked us as well," Shivam said. His uncle and brothers were critically injured before the attackers fled the scene.
An FIR has been registered at the Central police station, and police are actively searching for the accused, who are currently absconding, said ASI Krishan Gopal, the investigating officer.
