Kolkata: Several trains were cancelled, diverted, or short-terminated after 18 coaches of the Howrah-CSMT Express derailed near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand. The derailment occurred at 3:45 AM on Tuesday morning between Rajkharsawan and Badabambo stations under the South Eastern Railway, resulting in two deaths and multiple injuries. The train was traveling from Howrah to Mumbai.
Central Railway CPRO Dr. Swapnil Neela said, "Over 80% of passengers have been transferred to nearby stations by buses and other major means and have been given the option to continue their journey with a special rake."

Several trains have been diverted to alternate routes. Here is the list of the new routes:
18114 Bilaspur-Tata Express has been short terminated at Rourkela.
18190 Ernakulam-Tata Express has been short terminated at Chakradharpur.
18011 Howrah-Chakradharpur Express has been short terminated at Agra.
The Ministry of Railways has issued helpline numbers following the derailment of Howarh-CSMT Express (12810) near Jharkhand's Chakradharpur.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed officials concerned to expedite relief operations and help the injured people. "The injured passengers were provided medical aid in Barabamboo. They were taken to Chakradharpur for better treatment," another senior SER official said. The rescue operation is on, he said.
