A woman was brutally murdered by her mother-in-law after she refused to prepare tea in Hyderabad's Hasannagar area.
Hyderabad: A woman was brutally murdered by her mother in-law after she refused to prepare tea in Hyderabad's Hasannagar under Attapur police station limits on Thursday. The incident occurred around 10.15 am at the victim’s house near Madina Masjid.
The accused, 53-year-old Farzana Begum, asked her daughter-in-law, Ajmeera Begum, 28, to prepare tea. When Ajmeera refused, Farzana repeated the demand, leading to an argument. Ajmeera reportedly told Farzana that she was not her servant and wouldn't comply with her orders, according to police.
However, when Farzana Begum began beating Ajmeera, she reluctantly agreed and went to the kitchen to prepare tea. Farzana continued to follow and verbally abuse her. Once inside the kitchen, Farzana pushed Ajmeera to the ground and strangled her to death with a dupatta, police said.
Ajmeera, originally from Mominpet in Vikarabad district, married Mohammed Abbas, an autorickshaw driver, in 2015. The couple has a six-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.
Abbas and Farzana’s husband, Mohammed Noor, told police they were in another room when the incident occurred.
Police have taken Farzana into custody, and she has confessed to murdering her daughter-in-law. According to G. Venkat Ram Reddy, inspector of Attapur police station, the victim had been harassed by Farzana for a long time. Authorities are investigating whether Farzana's son and husband were involved, as they lived in the same house. A case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered against Farzana.
