New Delhi: The monsoons have arrived and Maharashtra, Assam, Gujarat, and Delhi are states that have been experiencing incessant rainfall for the past few weeks.
In the latest update, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for districts in Kerala and a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar.
The weather department further announced that the monsoon is shifting southward, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to coastal Kerala, Karnataka, and Konkan Goa this week.
Odisha is bracing for prolonged rainfall in the next four days due to a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.
The water level of Rapti river is everyday rising by 15 centimeters for the past 15 days. The river is flowing above the danger mark.
Met Department said that widespread rain is predicted for Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch regions for the next seven days. Alerts have been issued for multiple districts including Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Narmada, Bharuch, Dahod, Sabarkantha, Amreli, and Gandhinagar. Extremely heavy rainfall is also predicted in Daman Dadar and Nagar Haveli.
Met Department had already issued a High alert for Karnataka. Heavy rainfall have been predicted for the next 24 hours.
The Delhi police issued a traffic advisory after waterlogging was reported at Chaudhary Fateh Singh Marg, asking people to take diversions from Mall Road signal to Burai via Khyber Pass, Majnu ka Tila and Wazirabad flyover.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday spoke to Chief Ministers of Assam, UP, and Gujarat in separate telephonic conversations to assess the flood situation as well as the surge in water level due to heavy rainfall. He also assured the CMs of providing Central assistance as well as support of the National Disaster Response Force to combat the crisis.
The administration has asked all schools and PU colleges in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Sirsi, Siddapur, Yellapur, Dandeli, and Joida taluks to stay shut on Monday.
A red alert has been issued in four Maharashtra districts - Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri amid heavy showers.
The IMD issued a red alert for Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod in Kerala for Monday, and an orange alert for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
The Regional Meteorological Center of Mumbai in a post on X stated, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places over Vidarbha."
The Goa education department declared a holiday for schools up to Class 12 on Monday, July 15, citing heavy rain in the coastal state after IMD issued a red alert in parts of the state.
Rain lashed parts of Delhi on Monday morning, with the minimum temperature at 29 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees above the season's average. Relative humidity at 8:30 AM was 76 percent. Sunday's maximum temperature was 37.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees above the average.
Karnataka is also bracing for heavy rains over the next 24 hours, with the coastal region on high alert. The IMD has issued a red alert for Uttara Kannada district until July 16, underscoring the severity of the expected weather.
