New Delhi: A controversy sparked over former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah's remark on Kashmiri separatist Afzal Guru's execution, where he said that he does not believe that any purpose was served.
Following this, the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) launched a scathing attack on the opposition saying that " Congress is always with terrorists."
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala in a video said, "INDI Alliance is always with terrorists. Omar Abdullah said that hanging Afzal Guru did no good."
The saffron party leader further added, "Is he questioning the SC's decision?"
Additionally, Shehzad said, "INDI alliance always prioritises vote bank over national interest and hence they support whitewashing of Islamic jihad."
"They stood for Kasab saying he didn't kill Hemant Karkare."
Meanwhile, in another instance, BJP 's Jammu and Kashmir President Ravinder Raina also slammed Omar saying, "Muftis and Abdullah's know that people have rejected their political agenda and now Omar us making such statements (On Afzal Guru). Modi Ji and Shah Ji has made it clear that NC wants to snatch reservations of various communities."
What Did Omar Abdullah Say?
The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah while talking to ANI earlier, "The unfortunate thing was that the J&K government had nothing to do with Afzal Guru’s execution. Otherwise, you would have had to do it with the permission of the state government, which I can tell you in no uncertain terms would not have been forthcoming. We wouldn’t have done it."
This comes as the National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Thursday filed his nomination papers to contest the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections from Budgam.
"Omar Abdullah filed his nomination for the Budgam constituency for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, " a spokesperson for the party said.
