Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting with the Army Chief, heads of various central agencies and the Union Territory police on the recent prevailing law and order situation in the Jammu division. Reports suggested that during the meeting, LG Manoj Sinha took stock of the situation in the region after recent terrorist attacks. Expressing his concerns over such incidents in the UT, the Lt Governor asked the officials to take adequate steps to ensure safety and security in the region.
In the recent past, parts of the Jammu region have been witnessing a rapid surge in terror activities causing fatal casualties to citizens and army personnel.
According to the reports, in the meeting, along with Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, the DG BSF, DG CRPF, DGP J&K Police, heads of intelligence agencies and other senior defence officials participated.
Earlier, General Upendra Dwivedi met the Jammu and Kashmir LG and deliberated on the prevailing security dynamics in the region. During the meeting, the Chief of Army Staff assured him of a synergetic approach by armed forces and security agencies to tackle the present situation and maintain peace and stability in the region.
General Dwivedi also chaired a high-level ‘Joint Security Review Meeting’ in Jammu, focusing on thwarting the malevolent design of terrorists and anti-national elements in the region.
All stakeholders from the security forces and the intelligence agencies, operating in J&K, attended the meeting.
