Jishnu Dev Varma Sworn in as Telangana Governor

Hyderabad: Tripura former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma was sworn in as Telangana Governor on Wednesday in a function attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues.

Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice of Telangana High Court administered the oath to the new Governor.

Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy and several senior officials also attended the function.

Earlier in the day, Varma was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the airport here where Revanth Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, DGP Jitender and others received him.

Later, in a message to the people, Varma pledged to uphold the principles of fairness, integrity, and impartiality.

"I will discharge my duties with diligence, ensuring the democratic process and Constitutional mandates are respected at all times," he said.

Hailing from Tripura, he brings with him the rich cultural heritage and spirit of resilience of his homeland, he said.

"It is my privilege to now serve the people of Telangana, a state renowned for its diverse cultures, rich heritage, and unparalleled beauty," Varma said.

Congratulating the Government of Telangana, led by "young and dynamic Chief Minister Revanth Reddy garu", he called for embarking, together, on a journey of transformation, guided by democracy, justice, compassion and values of the Constitution.

He emphasised on the importance of education, healthcare and empowerment of youth.

The agricultural sector, the backbone of our economy, also requires continued support and innovation, he said.

"I am pleased with the state government's initiative to waive crop loans up to two lakh for all farmer families, providing much-needed relief to our hardworking farmers ensuring that they can continue to contribute to our state’s growth and prosperity," he said.

"I am deeply committed to promoting inclusivity and social justice. Our society can only thrive when every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to succeed," Varma said.
