The entire nation witnessed a successful tunnel victory when 41 workers who were stuck inside a claustrophobic tunnel came out successfully after 17 days.
There were multiple agencies — including the NDRF team, SDRF team, ITBP, and other central and state administrative units — that constantly worked day in and day out to rescue the trapped workers from the Uttarkashi Silkyara tunnel.
Nonetheless, the significance of rat-hole miners can not be denied because they were the ones who played a crucial role in bringing out the workers.
Earlier, a senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said the rat-hole minors were felicitated by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
While speaking to Republic TV in an exclusive conversation, rat-hole miners said that they hadn’t met Kejriwal and were not felicitated by him.
One of the rat-hole miners Munna Qureshi said, "We haven’t met Delhi Chief Minister. Unhone kisi aur ko sammanit kar diya (he felicitated someone else). We are a 12-member team and CM hasn’t met any one of us. My other teammates are Monu Kumar, Devender Kumar, Feroz Qureshi, Ankur Kumar, Rashid Ansari, Wakeel Hasan, Jatin Kumar, Nasir and others but none of my teammates have met him.”
Quresh further added by saying, "We are also disappointed with the state government as they gave us a mere Rs 50,000 cheque. They gave Rs 1 lakh to each labourer while we got Rs 50,000 each.
Republic TV tried reaching out to the AAP leader seeking a response to these allegations, but at the time of publishing this report, no response has been received on this so far.
